Virginia Day Trips
Virginia has so many incredible sights and experiences right in our own back yard. This summer, pack up for the day and head out to see some of the amazing things our state has to offer. Here are our top three picks for day trips in Virginia.
This beautiful park is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and covers a three mile stretch of the James River. Rent a kayak, canoe, or inner tube and go floating, or swimming, or hike, bike, and picnic in the park itself.
This museum features exhibits and demonstrations from early American history, rural crafts, and architecture of early New England. With a working forge from the 1700s, self-guided tours, and exhibits based on regional immigrants (including Irish, English, and West African), the Frontier Culture Museum is a great place to spend the day.
Visit the town of Floyd on a Friday night and you will be treated to more live music than you can shake a stick at. The musicians who flock to Floyd are mostly of the bluegrass persuasion, and there is dancing and plenty of food and drink to go around.
